Resume Career Objective
Is Your Jump-Start

Your journey to that job interview and beyond begins with your resume career objective.

It is commonly used, and particularly on graduate resumes, to tell employers how you can benefit them when they take you on. It also displays what you want to achieve in the near term in your career.

Your Target

Your objective is enormously valuable to you as you prepare or tailor your resume for a specific job vacancy. Being a simple and concise statement, it can be held in your mind as a target for everything that you write. So anything in your final resume that does not directly support your objective can be removed!

The Formula

Your career objective should be:
- Less than 25 words long
- Clear and unambiguous
- Use keywords related to the job description and its required skill-set

Employers often glance at your resume at the same time as reading through your cover letter. So your well written objective will jump out and confirm that this is an ideal candidate who matches their needs. They will be more likely then to go on and read your resume in more detail.

Example

Here is an example:

A web developer focusing on client-side applications and security features for an international bank, using HTML and JavaScript.
