Write a Resume: The Real Secret
Honestly up-selling our achievements is something we all face in trying to write a resume that fully represents our job history.
Why?
Because we want to get that job but being up to the employer’s requirements can be a challenge.
The way to do it is contained below, but the main thrust is to make claims and assertions ONLY when you have the evidence to back them up. Even if your resume was brilliant you would look less than professional if you couldn’t provide further convincing evidence at the interview stage.
Steps to Write a Resume
Firstly, you should take a look at
resume templates
to select the resume type you think you may use. It will depend on what you believe, from the employer’s perspective, makes the perfect candidate.
Everyone writing a resume is different or has a special situation.
For example, you may have just been retrenched or made redundant. In which case you may decide to do more than simply survive your job loss but instead embrace a whole new career. If you are recently unemployed take a look at

However you choose to prepare your resume, you will need to gather alot of information about yourself based on the information requirements as follows:
- Job Objective (dealt with in

- Experience (companies, job titles, dates, etc)
- Accomplishments (the value you added, what you achieved, all measured in some way)
- Capabilities (The unique skills you have learned and bring to this job)
- Education (Schools, Colleges, Diplomas, etc)
- References (Have people lined up who can vouch for you, but don’t mention them to the employer just yet)
The Approach
You want a resume that is tailored to meet your objectives! So should you treat your resume as a personal job history? Should your resume include every job you have ever done? Should your resume include all your academic qualifications, all your accomplishments and your experience?
The answer may surprise you...
