Resume Format Decisions Determine Your Success

Don’t make that common mistake with your own resume format of simply following the crowd. Your resume is your selling document that should put you in the very best light and allow you to present yourself as the Perfect Candidate for the job.

So, here’s something that every job seeker needs to know regarding their chosen resume structure...

The Method

The thinking process to go through is:
- Develop an Objective to link what you and employer want
- Create a Summary/Profile that asserts your strengths/skills
- Select the Body of your resume as evidence in the form of measurable benefits to previous employers, as supporting information

This powerful process can be used to generate a flood of interviews from employers, or fast-track your career, or build your professional image as an expert in your field or simply increase your salary potential. It's your choice.

My Recommended Layouts

- Chronological Resume Layout is the standard, time-based variety
- Functional Resume Layout focuses the employer on your strengths
- Combined Resume Layout is useful to emphasize accomplishments
- Finally, the One Pager Layout is a short marketing document showing only key capabilities and accomplishments

Alternatively, to see these in a little more depth so as to compare them, go to Overview of Resume Layouts
